Jonathan Raggett

Jonathan Raggett - Managing Director - Red Carnation Hotels

Managing Director

Jonathan joined RCH in 1998 as General Manager of The Rubens at the Palace, he was appointed Managing Director in 2000 and has overseen the growth of the company from three hotels to seventeen international properties, a stand alone bar restaurant and a country inn.

During this period of growth there has been huge investment in both the properties and our team of staff.  The extensive training and development programme that we offer has created a motivated team of over 1500 staff who are focused on providing consistent, warm and sincere hospitality.

The company has been universally recognised and Jonathan is especially proud of the fact that Red Carnation Hotels was the first company to be awarded the Investors in People Gold Standard across its entire worldwide operation.  In addition the company was placed 8th in The Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to work for 2014.  Jonathan’s own contribution to the hospitality industry was recognised when he was named Hotelier of the Year in November 2009 at the HotelCateys.

Internationally acclaimed hotelier Terry Holmes, winner of the 2006 Caterer Tourism Award, joined Red Carnation Hotels in February 2006, bringing with him his incredible passion for the hospitality industry.  His tremendous career ranges from a chef to Vice President in the luxury hotel business.

A much loved character at each of the hotels in the Red Carnation collection, his presence together with his expertise further strengthens our guests' experience.

I am now fast approaching twelve years service with Red Carnation hotels, I first started as General Manager at the Rubens Hotel and No. 41 where I soon learnt what makes Red Carnation Hotels different from other hotels around London. Being smaller we really have to focus on earning the guests business and ensuring that our teams are trained to deliver the thousands of individual standards which go into making a guests visit a memorable one. I now spend my time working with all the hotels developing great relationships with a wide range of companies, making sure that we tailor our outstanding service to fully match the need of our guests.

I consider myself really lucky to have been working for Red Carnation Hotels for over 10 years now – firstly as Training and Development Manager, then as Director of Human Resources and Training and now as Vice President for Human Resources.  My background is in restaurants, bars, contract catering, private healthcare and hotels. For me, the best piece of feedback we have is when a guest remarks on the fantastic service they received or how the friendliness of the staff knocked their socks off! Ultimately this is how my department is judged - on our recruitment through to the training we deliver.  In 2009, I had the honour of being named Human Resources Manager of the Year at the HotelCateys and also One of the Top 100 Women in Hospitality by Women First at the Shine awards in 2011.  The most satisfaction for me at work derives from when I see someone develop and grow within the company and I am happy to say that this is something that at Red Carnation Hotels we do exceedingly well.  Equally, someone being happy in their role, doing a brilliant job and wishing to stay in that position with us for many years is important to me.

Having joined the Executive team at Red Carnation Hotels in July 2011, I am proud to be working for such a wonderful collection of hotels where “no request too large and no detail too small” describes the Red Carnation ethos perfectly. I graduated from Bournemouth University in International hospitality Management in 2002 before joining Intercontinental Hotels Group in Revenue Management, after 4 years I moved to to manage the London hotel sector before taking on the role of Director of Sales for Sabre Hospitality Solutions in 2008. I joined the Red Carnation Hotels family in July 2011 and enjoy leading a dynamic and creative team in Marketing & PR for a boutique hotel collection that truly understands hospitality.

Brian Brennan

Projects Director Building & Design

I joined Red Carnation Hotels in the 1990s as Projects Director Building & Design. Responsible for leading the Design team in all aspects of hotel renovations, decorative initiatives and remodelling new acquisitions, working closely with Mrs Tollman & Toni Tollman to achieve the high standards and stylish visual impact for which Red Carnation is renowned. I also oversees the creative concepts for our sister brand Uniworld ensuring that the same level of luxury is present throughout. With a deep love of antiques, arts and fabrics, I personally manage every aspect of the interior design, décor and art selection, styling photo shoots and infusing thoughtful signature touches that make our collection unique.


Simon Royce

Vice President of Finance and Administration

I joined the collection about three years ago on a consultancy basis - having clocked up a fair few years in accountancy!  My background was varied but my last role was with a well known health spa chain.  A year ago, I was approached to take the Vice President role and I have been working for all the Red Carnation collection since then.  It is a pleasure to work with a team of dedicated financial people but also with the operators at hotel level.  I am very much involved with the day to day business as well as the decisions and strategy for the group as a whole; it is this spectrum of my role that I particularly enjoy.
